Anyone know a good lawyer?

October 1st, 2008

I am wrapping up Web Etcetera and now off to work for Apple.

Unfortunately, last week - as I was finalizing business details, I found to my horror that my office manager (who had been keeping track of everything finances for Web Etcetera for the past 3 years) has been stealing from me by using the business debit/MasterCard for a number of personal purchases - over 50 in 2008 alone! Mostly for gas, groceries, starbucks and dining. She racked up over $700 in overdraft fees from many of these purchases putting us over our remaining balance. She also decided to give herself a really nice raise! She jumped herself from $30/hour to $40/hour! OUCH.

At least she admits to doing it - contributing it to be an addiction, and that it was not “personal”. So much so, that if she could get away with it again - even with her own parents - she would!

Lesson learned: while it is good to trust, don’t trust blindly.

Syeda’s article to the Rockford Paper

September 19th, 2008

I have submitted Syeda,s letter to the Rockford papaer-see below

Dear Mr. Guerrero (I hope I have spelled you name correctly),

Our daughter is hosting a foreign exchange student from Pakistan. This young lady (her picture is available if needed) is about 16 years old and has written a letter to an anonymous fire fighter from New York as part of a school assignment. I, and other members of our family, were so touched by this letter that I thought it might interest your paper as a human interest article.

Attached is the letter.

Sincerely,
Neil L. Brown

9/11 - From Syeda (homework assignment)
September 11th, 2008
Dear Firefighter,

I am Syeda Muniba, an exchange student from Pakistan. I am hosted by a marvelous family in Louisville, which is located in the beautiful state of Kentucky. I am in 11th grade in Spencer County High School.

Today when I am writing this letter to you is September 11. This same date seven years ago bought a horrible experience, firstly for America and later for the entire world. It caused many honorable souls to leave this world and their entire family to mourn. It caused the whole nation to be in time of great trouble, horror and sorrow.

But still someone was there on the sight to help others, to bring people back to their families and try to wipe off the tears of Nation. These people were Angels for the USA. They were the ones whom the whole Nation can trust for centuries. They were none other than you and your colleagues.

Believe me, to risk your life for the sake of others could not be done by everyone! This needs a pure and huge heart. You tried to help others when even you and your family were in severe danger. I, being a Pakistani ambassador, salute you for what you are and for what you have done to contribute to world humanity and peace. America loves you, we love you and I love you.

Though thanks is a tiny word to contribute to your unspoken work, I still want to say “Thank You” from the inner core of my heart. The whole world depends on people like you.

Thank you so very much!!!

Syeda Muniba

The Brown Christmas Party

September 18th, 2008

Hi Everyone,

Just a note about our annual Christmas Party-The only available weekend date that I can get at the Byron Prarrie Center Is Nov. 30. Unfortunately (or not), that is the Sunday immediately after Thanks-giving. That may not be so bad though after-all. Most people will have the previous Thur. & Fri. off. That would allow Fri. or Sat. for travel time “To” and the following Mon. “From”.

Will this work for everyone?

Please let me know as soon as possible.

Love,
Dad
